Jan McCormack, Children’s ministry director
I grew up in central South Carolina in the Sand Hills (near Camden). My dad felt the call to ministry and attended Fruitland Bible School in North Carolina, and then we moved to be Southern Baptist missionaries in far northern NY (St Lawrence County) where I finished High School. I was involved in various church ministries from Sunday school to vacation Bible school. Dan's parents were attending my dad's church in Lawrenceville, NY and we met in the fall of 1980 when Dan was serving in the US Air Force at Griffiss Air Force base and we married on August 1st, 1981. After Dan completed four years of active duty, we moved to Houghton College. In 1986 Dan accepted a position to teach history at Lancaster Christian School. By then our little family included Melissa and Heather. Our son Nathaniel was born in 1990. We moved to western PA when the company Dan was working for moved us to Fayette County (South of Pittsburgh) where we lived from 2003 to 2011. In 2011 we returned to Lancaster County and started attending CBCMJ in June 2011. Dan and I served as leaders and teachers for the Young Adult Bible Fellowship for nearly 8 years. Dan taught Sunday mornings and I led a small group weeknight Bible study. We look forward to our annual vacations in Quebec City, Canada, and trips to see our grandchildren in Western MD. I enjoy gardening, morning walks, cooking, and corresponding with our sponsored Compassion children around the world.
